Explanatory Notes
The True Meaning of Envy
Allah (God) Almighty explains to us
in details in the Noble Qur'an the true meaning of Envy. Such
that envy can be understood completely from the story of Joseph
peace be upon him (PBUH) in the Noble Qur'an, where Allah (God)
Almighty states that in the story of Joseph PBUH and His
brethren there are answers and signs for those who ask and
ponder about matters.
Allah (God) Almighty explains to us
what envy is from the answer of the father of Joseph PBUH (i.e.
Jacob PBUH). Where Jacob PBUH told His son not to tell the
vision he had from Allah (God) Almighty to His brothers because
Jacob PBUH was concerned that the brothers of Joseph PBUH would
envy him (which means to wish for a blessing from Allah (God)
Almighty to go away). Then Jacob PBUH told His son that after
they envy him they would make a physical effort and action to
make this blessing go away.
Thus from this story it can be
deduced that envy is the wishing of something good to go away
from a person and making a physical action and effort to make it
happen. And not by unseen mystical forces that are emanated from
the eyes of the person who envies.
The True Meaning of Magic
If a person wanted to know what is magic then he or she should
ponder and reflect upon the verses of the book of Allah (God)
Almighty (i.e. The Noble Qur'an)And if a person does that then
he or she would discover that magic is mentioned in two places
in the Noble Qur'an, which are:
1. In the description of the action of the magicians of the
Pharaoh of Egypt, in the sense that Allah (God) Almighty describes
how they made people see a matter in a way which does not
reflect its true nature. Allah (God) Almighty states that the
magicians placed the people in an environment which generates
fear and apprehension, then they made something move and the
people thought that these moving objects are snakes. Thus
Allah (God) Almighty teaches us that the first kind of magic is
the illusion created by placing the person in fear and
apprehension, then the movement of an object such as cloth,
stick, etc. can befool the person in thinking that it is something
else.
2. The other place where magic is mentioned in the Noble Qur'an
is verse 102 of chapter two. Where Allah (God) Almighty tells us
that the devils teach people magic and the question here is with
regards to the nature of the magic of Satan?
We find the answer to the above question in the same verse where
Allah (God) Almighty teaches us that one form of the magic of
Satan is to separate between couples. This is done by the
companion devil of the husband whispering to him with a voice
exactly like the voice he thinks with ideas he hears them in his
head about his wife that
she is cheating on him, she is bad, etc., also the companion
devil of the wife whispers to her bad ideas about her husband.
Thus the companion devil makes the wife and husband see each
other in a distorted and untrue way and this is the magic of the
Devils.
So Allah (God) Almighty teaches us that magic is as stated above
and there is no other form of magic whatsoever.
